Where to eat and not to eat in Palermo - La escondida

Palermo is the hood in Buenos Aires where people go to eat fancy, there is a wide range of gastronomic choices to pick from. some are excellent and some do not live up to the expectations, and all of them are expensive, at least for Argentine prices.

La escondida located at Costa Rica 4464, leaves me with mixed feelings, cuz even though the service and ambiance was nice, the meat was under cooked and the salad bar had a very limited selection veggies.

I will not rule it out as a choice but I have to say that for the same price I ate much better in other restos in Palermo.

La Parrilla de Rolo, the Best Sandys in Colegiales

May I present to you the "sanguche guerrero" or warrior sandwich made with Bondiola, a lean pork cut and real potato fries.

Found at "La Parrilla de rolo" located at Federico Lacroze 2802, right across the Colegiales train station.

As a typical Parrilla they not only serve sandwiches but all sorts of grilled meat and neat dishes. Prices are good and portions are big. Ideal for the hungry traveller that happens to be in Colegiales.

La mas querida is a very small resto located at Echeverria 1618 in the Belgrano neighbourhood.

In the "pizza a la parrilla" or bbq pizza category it scores pretty higg, with many varieties of grilled pizza, good size and price.

It has a cosy ambiance and is ideal for a casual dinner.

Come Christmas time in Buenos Aires and in spite of the warm weather and lack of any visible deco, there are still great concerts to be enjoyed.

Yesterday I attended a "Sacred Music" concert by a local choir called Buenos Ayres Consort. They sang and played period instruments at the chapel of the La Salle Brothers school in Buenos Aires.
























they performed music by Monteverdi, Gabrielli and Schutz, with great talent.

the Boca-River affaire

Yesterday we finally got to watch the final game of the Libertadores cup, played for the first time in history between two soccer teams from the same country and even the same city.

delayed due to riots before the intended game at the River Plate stadium, it was finally played in Spain to all the fans dismay.

I watched the game with the Boca fans and passed by the obelisk where the River fans were celebrating their victory.

Another edition of the Buenos aires celebra España has passed leaving us with great folclorea nd good food.

Not as large as other events but with great quality regional food for sale ath the several kiosks.

the prima donna was the Paella having varieties from various spanish regions.

Weekend Getaways - Reserva Ecologica Costanera Sur

Here´s the place for a weekend stroll right in the city. The Reserva Ecologica Costanera Sur is natural reserve right in the downtown area of Buenos Aires.

its 350 hectares of vegetation harbours native flora and fauna and is the ideal place to visit during hot summer days.

with a nice view of the river and some green resting areas it has grown as a refuge for birds and city slickers alike.

The Rosedal or Rose Garden is part of one of the parks that are in the 3 de Febrero parks.

it is dedicated as its name says, to Rose bushes, even though it does have some other flowers and plants

I have to say that it is very well kept by the City of Buenos Aires, and it is of free entry.

Now since Summer is the season that Roses bloom in the southern hemisphere, it is best to visit it during this season, to be able to catch the Roses in full bloom.

As in previous years I had the chance to do the night of the Temples.

Organized by the city of Buenos Aires, it is an evening in which most of the religious houses of woeship in the city are open to the public, more as a cultural venue than as a temple.

At the Buenos Aires jazz festival 2018

The buenos Aires international jazz festival has being going on for some years already.

With venues al over the city it has a variety of outdoor and indoor shows.

this year it went on for 5 days and featured a wide variaty of rock,jazz,bossa nova and caribean bands which were excellent.
