Exploring the Buenos Aires Province - Cañuelas

So, heading 60 clicks south-west of Buenos Aires you will find the city of Cañuelas a city that has some importance cuz of its flour mill and other big companies established there.

The city is also accessible by train leaving from the Constitución Train station on the General Roca Line.
But it also has some old town charm and some trendy new restos that can be visited.

the city has some very picturesque streets with houses and vintage doors and items that lend themselves to great pics.

Exploring the Buenos Aires Province - San Antonio de Areco - The Train station

Not surprisingly many of the abandoned train stations in towns like San Antonio de Areco have been taken over by squatters.

San Antonio wasa an important stop, so it had more buildings, most of which are now in ruins, so I think its better that someone actually lives in the main station house until better days come.

San Antonio being a bigger city has developed its downtown area for tourism, which left the old train station behind.

Exploring the Buenos Aires Province - Azcuenaga - abandoned town reinvented

Many of the railroad towns like Azcuenaga have reinvented themselves since they were disconnected from the rail lines, many have annual festivals that attract crowds or have adapted old buildings and made them trendy coffee shops or restaurants.

One of the restos in Azcuenaga is "La Porteña" which runs in the towns former Tailor shop and keeps the ambiance of old in its rooms decorated with Taylors utensils.

Exploring the Buenos Aires Province - Azcuenaga

Still in the "Partido de San Andres we can find the town of Azcuenaga, created in 1880 with the expansion of the Railroad.

A bit bigger tha Solis. It features the train station and some ruins of what seemed to be warehouses.
Also there is a nice church that can be visited.

Exploring the Buenos Aires Province - Solis

So this one is a real blink and miss town. Solis is really small and out of the way, located at the edge of the ruta 193 and ruta 8 in the "Partido de San Andres de Giles".

Don´t expect a welcome party since it can only offer an abandoned train station and some vintage houses.

Never the less, when you do see people they will be open and welcoming subjects for some in passing photos.

Exploring the Buenos Aires Province - Lujan

Now once you´re wandering around the Lujan Area you will probably want to go to the city of lujan which is the most important one in its namesake jurisdiction.

Lujan does have a wider selection of restaurants and stores than most of the surrounding towns, but mainly it has the Lujan Basilica named after Our Lady of Lujan, which is a river adjacent to the magnificent church built in neo gothic style and one of the largest ones of its type in Argentina.

Our Lady of Lujan is the Virgin patroness of Argentina and is therefore a site of pilgrimage, so there might be many people visiting unless you go during week days when its less crowded.

Exploring the Buenos Aires Province - Cortinez

You could probably pick a random town in the Buenos Aires Province and still find pictouresque settings for great pics.

Cortinez is locaded in the "Partido de Lujan, no more than 10 clicks away from the city of Lujan.

It is very small and was once a stop of the railroad and you will probably miss it unless you specifically go there.

still it will yield surprises like this semi abandoned truck I found in  a vacant lot.
