From the Past - The lake of Xochimilco

You can call it the Xochimilco Lake or Lagoon, or just canals. In any case if you visit Mexico City, I do recommend you spare an afternoon to take a ride in the picturesque boats that ferry you around the different canals. Its like a cross in between Venice and the Aztec Empire.

At the quesadilla stand

On my last day in Mexico I treated myself to some quesadillas for lunch, upon arriving at the distinguised establishment I asked for a place to sit, and was ushered to the upper floor, where I had a wonderful view of the grill that stood inmediatelly under me thus sending all the smoke in my direction. (the price of a good shot, and a good meal too, for 4 bucks, can´t complain)

Tlaloc and the Rain

Since its been raining out of season, and therefore ruined some of my excursions, I decided to blame it on Tlaloc, the Aztec deity of rain, whose 165 tn satue sits in front of the Antropology Museum in Mexico City ( a must see ). this monolith was laying on it back on the outskirts of the City, and was moved to the museum in 1964.

La Virgen y el santo

Everybody loves Our Lady of Guadalupe, including “El santo” a famous Mexican wrestler, that has appeared in innumerable movies from the 60s and 70s. He would never take his mask off, even during his public appearances, as corny as that may sound.
I saw this painting in the Museo de Culturas Populares in Coyoacan, Mexico City.

Royal Blue Butterfly

Well, its been two years date to date that this blog has been online. What beter topic than to go back to the original topic of colours.
This beautifull butterfly lives at the Mariposario of the Chapultepec Zoo in Mexico City, and beleive or not this was the best shot I got of these buggers. all the other butterflyes would stay still but the blue ones where increadably active, and since the place was at 30 C, I did´nt hang out too long in there.
