La noche de los museos 2019 in Buenos Aires

Last Saturday was this year´s edition of the Museum night in Buenos Aires, a yearly event that gathers huge crowds and forms big lineups to visit the many museums featured in the event.

this year we strolled through the streets of the Belgrano neighbourhood away from the very crowded downtown museums, and we were delighted by the choir that performed at the Holy Saviour Anglican church which far from being a museum always has a good show on.

The trip to Chile - La Biblioteca Nacional

Chile´s National Library is surely a place worth visiting, located on the Libertador O´Higgins Ave. in Santiago, built between 1813 and 1825 in a French neoclassical style, it is currently open to the public and can be visited for free.

It hosts ample study areas with very nice desks and chairs and wi-fi access.

It has a wide array of reference material and has displayed some of south america´s oldest maps, besides holding most of the countries digital reference material.

La noche de las Librerías in Avenida Corrientes

Last night I went to the Bookstore night in Buenos Aires, It was held in Avenida Corrientes which became into a pedestrian for the night.

As I previously mentioned B.A. is a very literate city, where until today most of the important editorials of South America still publish.
The Event attracted multitudes in conjunction with the Porteño´s attraction with nightlife.

The bookstores were really packed, making it difficult to move around, and also there were long lineups to cash out.

Anywhere else this event would have been held during the early afternoon hours, but not in Buenos Aires, where people go to dine out at 11pm.

The cultural scene in Buenos Aires

Today I would like to ramble about the cultural scene in Buenos Aires, which offers a wide array of paid and free performances year round. Unlike some cities that only come alive during the summer, you can find concerts and talks all year round, including outdoor ones.

This week I managed to attend two, the first one a Renaissance music concert at a church, and the second one a live broadcast of the "Romeo and Julliet" valet, right outside the Colon theatre.
Both were well attended which testifies to the cultural appetite of Argentines, even though they tend to brag a lot and emit opinions on subjects they know nothing about, they tend to be cultured at an European level.
