Weekend Getaways - Capilla del Señor - Where to eat

Actually there are several very good restos in Capilla del Señor. We checked out "Capilla Pampa" for a taste of good countryside "parrilla", the food is good and abundant and prices are fair.

El imparcial, mean milanesas in Buenos Aires

If you enjoy eating meat in one of its breaded forms , locally called milanesas you have to check out "El Imparcial"

located at Hypolito Yrigoyen 1201 in the monserrat neighbourhood, not too far from the downtown area. El imparcial is one of the oldest Restos in B.Aires it actually specialises in fish but has a varied menu that will leave you like a donkey with two carrots to chose from.

With the looks and service of the restaurants of old, I actually went there for its "Milanesa imparcial" that comes with "the works"Bacon, eggs, peas etc.

To top it off we had the fruit salad with ice cream which we had to share not to pig out too much.

Where to eat and not to eat in Palermo - La escondida

Palermo is the hood in Buenos Aires where people go to eat fancy, there is a wide range of gastronomic choices to pick from. some are excellent and some do not live up to the expectations, and all of them are expensive, at least for Argentine prices.

La escondida located at Costa Rica 4464, leaves me with mixed feelings, cuz even though the service and ambiance was nice, the meat was under cooked and the salad bar had a very limited selection veggies.

I will not rule it out as a choice but I have to say that for the same price I ate much better in other restos in Palermo.

La Parrilla de Rolo, the Best Sandys in Colegiales

May I present to you the "sanguche guerrero" or warrior sandwich made with Bondiola, a lean pork cut and real potato fries.

Found at "La Parrilla de rolo" located at Federico Lacroze 2802, right across the Colegiales train station.

As a typical Parrilla they not only serve sandwiches but all sorts of grilled meat and neat dishes. Prices are good and portions are big. Ideal for the hungry traveller that happens to be in Colegiales.

Weekend Getaways - Eating in Zarate - Parrilla ley Primera

In Zarate there´s a Riverside walk that you will most likely visit called the Costanera E. Buscaglia, and being there you will be probably be tempted to have lunch or dinner.
There are basically two main places to Eat, one serves fish and the other one is a Parrilla called "Ley Primera".

For our readers benefit we checked the latter and discovered that it serves a very good parrilla accompanied by some delicious oven baked bread.
The price is alright and the service is good.

At the Campeonato Federal de Asado 2018

This year was the third edition of the Federal Asado championship, held this time in the Mataderos neighbourhood, a place that takes its name from the slaughterhouses it houses.

Besides the competition itself there are dozens of kiosks that serve the traditional meat cuts grilled in the typical argie fashion.

The competition was held in the main square amphitheatre and consisted of 5 teams representing different Argentine provinces each one grilling a fine peace of meat.

After which a panel of judges from acclaimed restaurants and cook schools ruled over to see who made the best asado.

This years title went to the team from the southern Chubut province.

La Plata - Eating meat

Looking for a place to eat meat in La Plata, look no further

Lo del Negro is a small parilla located at Calle 3, 782 in the downtown area of the city.
This is one of those localally apreciated restos not overcrowded by tourists. Good meat , service and price.

Best Parrillas in Buenos Aires - Totin -

Now, if you want to thread off the beaten path of downtown or Puerto Madero and have a popular parrilla experience you should haead over to Villa Ortuzar and look around Alvarez thomas Avenue. There you will find a dozen very good parrillas with good meat and prices.

Today we feature "Totin" located in a pictouresque island at the intersection of Alvarez Thomas and Avenida de los Incas.

Totin is a family run bussiness frequented by middle class families in Villa ortuzar, the meat is good and the prices are quite cheap compared to the more fancier places. Their wine selection is very good and definetively a lot cheaper than the other parrillas.

Best Parrillas in Buenos Aires -, Los Platitos, Costanera

Continuing with my series on meat eating, I would like to talk about La Costanera, wich is Buenos Aire´s river side walk. I was told that originally the best Parrillas were located there, and in the nineties they either moved or opened a branch in Puerto Madero.

Nevertheless you can still find some diehards that remained there, like the parrilla "Los Platitos", located at Av. Rafael Obligado, or Costanera, right in front of Parque de la Memoria, it´s considered as one of the historical parrillas of Costanera Norte.
Now to be frank I have heard complaints about the meat and service being bad and expensive, but in my case I went there with friends and we bought their famous Lomito sandwich which lived up to my expectations for a very reasonable price.

you can either take out and eat it watching the River Plate, or eat it at the counter, provided you find a spot. but I have to say that the quality of the meat was excellent, something that is not usual in sandwiches served here.

Best Parrillas in Buenos Aires - La Estancia - Downtown

La estancia is located  just a few blocks away from the "Obelisco"at calle Lavalle 941 in the pedestrian area of downtown Buenos Aires. It is a very well groomed tourist oriented "Asador Criollo" which is commonly used as a meat presentation card of the City.

Prices are fairly cheap considering its location, but I do recommend venturing into other "Parrillas" located deeper into the neighbourhoods for a better feel of the authentic parrilla.

Best Parrillas in Buenos Aires - La Posada de 1820 - Bank district

Even though 1820 is not just a Parrilla but a Restaurant, I´ll include it as a bonus.
Located at the intersection of Tucuman and San Martin streets in BA, its really close to most of the downtown attractions that you will probably visit. It has a very good menu and very cheap daily Menus.
I recommend it as an option when you go to Galerías Pacifico, instead of eating at the food court

Best Parrillas in Buenos Aires -Desnivel - San Telmo

Desnivel which means unleveled, probably referring to the fact that they joined to houses to make the restaurant and they are at different floor levels, is located at Defensa 855, right smack at the heart of San Telmo which in the past decade became a tourist hangout. Along with many colleagues I'm averse to crowds which always don't allow for good shots, so if you want to eat here while takings nice pics in San Telmo, do not go on the weekend.

This is a classical Argentine parrilla where you order by the plate, the meat is excellent and they have a pretty good menu. I do recommend the milanesas as well. The portions are big and prices are cheap considering its location. A full meal for 3 people set us back 33 bucks.

Best Parrillas in Buenos Aires - Siga la Vaca - Puerto Madero

Hey , going to B.A and not indulging in good beef is like going to Rome and not visiting "La Fontana di Trevi". Definitely Argentina has the best beef in the world, That´s in a cost benefit point of view. You can probably buy a plate of Kobe beef in NY or Tokyo and pay the equivalent of a down payment on a car, but if you have that kind of money do not read this.
Buenos Aires is full of good places to eat meat, that's why I´m only reviewing 5. You can ask any one on the street and they will refer you to a decent resto where you can eat for a  reasonable price and be satisfied.
Today I will recommend a cheap one located at one of the city´s tourist traps. I´m talking about Puerto madreo where you´ll find all types of expensive food joints that offer very good quality food, but are not so great on prices.

Siga la vaca is located at A. Alicia Moreau de Justo 1714 and is all you can eat, including drinks and dessert for a very moderate price (generally 15 to 20 bucks per person, depending on the day of the week). The service is also good, but be advised that if you go at the peak of lunch hour you might have to wait to get in. It has a great salad bar and the grill boasts a good variety of meat cuts. To drink you can choose from Wine, beer or pop served in 1L pitchers.
