La mas querida is a very small resto located at Echeverria 1618 in the Belgrano neighbourhood.

In the "pizza a la parrilla" or bbq pizza category it scores pretty higg, with many varieties of grilled pizza, good size and price.

It has a cosy ambiance and is ideal for a casual dinner.

Ambrosio Horno a Leña located at Guardia Vieja 3552 in the Abasto neighbourhood in Buenos Aires is one of those tratoria typre restos that survided the times and continues to serve the classical Porteño pizza.

Ten top pizza joints in Buenos Aires - Runner ups - 1893 Villa crespo

Something different among the wide variety of pizzerias in Buenos Aires, the 1893 pizza, located at Scalabrini Ortiz and Loyola in the Villa Crespo neighbourhood, is that this one specialises in "pizza a la parrilla" or barbecued pizza.

You´ll find most of the comon pizza toppings in their oven or "parilla" versions.

The service is good on weekdays and not so crowded on the weekends, and the prices are quite cheap, which is an advantage of "Barrio dinning" as opposed to the "Palermo" tourist trap restos.

Ten top pizza joints in Buenos Aires - Runner ups - Cosi mi piace - Palermo

In the runner up category for the best pizza joints in BA. today I bring you "Cosi mi piace" located at El Salvador 4618 in Palermo.

This joint specialises in Roman style pizza and is in the runner ups, not because it is´nt good, but because it is not Argie style pizza. The pizza here is quite good, but the prices sre´nt that cheap.

Its ambiance is a hybrid trendy with roman pizzeria, that´s why you will find better wines and beers that your average Bunos Aires pizzeria, that serves mostly moscato wine.

Ten top pizza joints in Buenos Aires - Runner ups - Siamo nel Forno - Palermo Hollywood

Siamo nel Forno, who´s name makes reference to an argie saying " estamos en el horno", meaning we´re done. Is not your typical argie pizzeria, even though its pizza is quite good. So that´s why it made it to the runner ups in my list.

Do not get me wrong "Siamo nel forno" is very good pizza place in the Neapolitan category, serving the pizza piato style, but its a place that imitates something else, in this case a Neapolitan setting.

In reading other food related blogs in Buenos Aires, this joint is very well recommended, but again in the same blog you´ll read that "Buenos Aires has the worst pizza in the world". A commentary made a burger popping chick that has no clue about real food.

The pizza they serve here is the hard dough version, which differs from the typical spongy argie style, nevertheless I found it very good, not the best, and the service was all right, with a poor choice of draft beers but good enough.

Top 10 pizza joints in Buenos Aires +2 - La Mezzetta - Villa Ortuzar

Now along with Angelin, La Mezzetta sits amongst the 3 best neighbourhood pizza joints in Buenos Aires, again this is only for the die hard pizza lovers, Spanish only, non tourist friendly, crowded, very popular.

Another tell tale tip about restaurants in general is that if its frequented by taxi drivers you can be sure its good eating.
La Mezzetta is located at Alvarez Thomas 1321 in Villa Ortuzar, a hood far from the downtown tourist scene. Its stand up only or take away, but its always crowded and they serve great pizza and fainá.

To 10 pizza joints in Buenos Aires +1 - La Rey - Obelisco

Hey followers, after several month of my last post I am able to continue with this blog again.
Continuing with the ten top pizza joints in BA. Today I give you a +1.
La Rey ( named after its creator and owner Señor Rey), located on Corrientes 961, just half a block from the obelisk in downtown Buenos Aires. Its pizza is very good and you must try the "Especial La Rey" that comes with sweet peppers and the works, and do'nt pig out or you'll regret it .
As of price, it will be more expensive than other pizzerias, since its location demands higher prices. But you can always eat slices and be pretty stuffed as well.

I would say that on Corrientes Avenue you must Visit Guerrin, La Rey and Los Inmortales, just to  have a feel of the culinary scene in downtown Buenos Aires.

Top 10 pizza joints in Buenos Aires - Napoles - Villa Crespo

Located at Av. Corrientes 5588, villa Crespo (two blocks from “Malabia” subway station (Linea B), and close to "El Imperio" which I mentioned on a previous post. The pizzeria Napoles is a non descriptive, non tourist oriented facade pizza joint. Here you will find one of the best examples of "media masa", you can dine in or take out, if you order a medium size pie it will feed two people or 3 salad eating chicks, or the "Grande" for four or two very hungry people.
Go for the Mozzarella or Margarita, and try the faina, that is also quite good.
The prices are quite accessible as well

Top 10 pizza joints in Buenos Aires - El Cuartito - Tribunales

Located at Talcahuano 937 close to Estacion Tribunales (linea D). Here you can enjoy media masa and molde pizzas, even though they do not use a wood oven, which may offend some purists, they still turn out a fabulous pie. It’s always crowded with locals and tourists, hence its name, the little room, it boasts a very typical Italian pizzeria decor, They also serve a mean Flan co dulce de leche dessert.

Los Inmortales or "the Immortals" is dedicated to a generation of writers, artists and bohemians it Specialises in “pizza a la piedra” which basically is a hard crust pizza. Its flagship house is the one in Av. Corrientes which was founded in 1952. This is also a place to sit down and enjoy a full meal. The prices here are tourist oriented so you will pay the full price of a good pizza, this is the one on lavalle street.

Top 10 pizza joints in Buenos Aires - La Guitarrita - Nuñez

Located at Cuba 3300 in the Nuñez neighbourhood home to the soccer team River Plate, it is worth visiting and can be accessed by subway.
I always like to try the house´s own pizzas when they have one, here you can check out "la Atomica" (Atomic) and the "Don Grillo", named after one of the pizzaiolos that worked there for decades, and also the fugazetta rellena, which is an onion pizza with cheese.

Decorated with a soccer theme, it has banners from most soccer clubs in Argentina, along with photos of their idols. The service is quite good and the place has transformed itself from a neighbourhood pizzeria to a fine eating institution in Buenos Aires.

Top 10 pizza joints in Buenos Aires, Angelin, Villa Crespo

Angelin is located at Av. Cordoba 5270, in Villa crespo. Its tucked in a small non descriptive location, But it ranks amongst the best pizzas in B.A., It´s said to count with ilustrious custummers such as Frank Sinatra and Robert Dubal. Its only open after 6pm and is mostly eat on the bar style, with no tourist amenities.
This one is worth the extra mile to enjoy a very good pizza, and fainá with cheese, that is´nt served everywhere.
Oh I was forgetting that they have a very good draught beer as well.

Top 10 pizza joints in Buenos Aires, Banchero, La Boca

Located at Av. Almirante Brown 1200, Banchero is one of the places you must visit when you go to La Boca, and you probably will if sightseing in Buenos Aires. Forget bout other tourist trap resto´s, walk a couple of blocks from caminito and you´re there.

The place is a true institution in "La Boca" and in the City for its great Pizza

Top 10 Pizza joints in Buenos Aires, San Antonio, Boedo

San Antonio is located in the intersection of Av.Boedo y Av.Garay, in the neighbourhood of Boedo. Its Pizza is good, but I imagine it was better in the past. Defenitely the best of Boedo. The place has been renovated keeping some of its traditinal elements. This a place to sit down and order a whole pizza, opposed to eating one on the go.

Top 10 Pizza joints in Buenos Aires, El Fortin, Villa Devoto

El Fortin is located in Villa Devoto, a neighbourhood quite far from the tourist areas, The pizza they make there is good but the Fainá is supperb, The place is in a vintage-derelict state, and the sevice is in your face, only spanish spoken, the price is very cheap, and defenitely worth stopping by if you´re in the area.

Top 10 Pizza Joints in Buenos Aires - El Imperio - Chacarita

El Imperio de la Pizza has two locations Av. Corrientes 6899 and Fco. Lacroze, Chacarita, both in Buenos Aires (city). These pics are from the one in Chacarita, that has retained its original looks. Right across from the train Terminal and the subway station, it has been a resting spot for millions of hungry travellers during decades.
By the way, when you go to this places, do´nt order a large pizza, go for the slice with fainá and eat it at the counter.

Top 10 Pizza joints in Buenos Aires - Guerrin - Centro

It´s known that the Pizza in Buenos Aires rankes amongst the best in the world, among the many pizza joints in the city, one of the best 10 is Guerrin, in Av. Corrientes. I had the house´s own, with sweet peppers and olives.
Stay tuned for my pilgrimage to the top 10 pizerias in Buenos Aires.
