The Palacio Barolo

the "Palacio Barolo" is an eclectic style building located in avenida de Mayo in Buenos Aires, a couple of blocks away from the National Congress building. It was built in 1919-23 and recently restored. It was meant to house the ashes of Dante Alighiery, the famous Italian Poet.

The building is themed after Dante's "Divine Comedy"and is decorated accordingly representing hell, Purgatory & Heaven, it has 22 floors and 7 elevators, which divided among themselves gives you 3,14 (Pi) among many other symbolisms. The builder was a man of his time, being mason and fascist, and of Italian origin, hence Dante .

Besides the building´s mysteries one of its greatest assets is its 360 view.

By the way, like any big city the best way to move around is the subway, which takes you to most places of interest

Watchadoin in Buenos Aires

Visit the "Museo de la Ciudad de B.A." in Defensa 219, to see a neat colection of vintage toys and argentine soccer history.

At "Galerias Pacifico" you can have a argie beef combo for less than what you pay for a greaseburger. Devide by 3.85 and you get US dollars.

Beautiful churches are all over the city, like the Basilica of the Blessed Sacrament close to Retiro on San Martin St.

Last day in Asunción - the Siesta

I have a hard time sleeping on most matresses, but this guy can handle a siesta on the granite bench, maybe I should work harder or carry my 70-200 more often, that thing mounted on my D200 weights close to 20lbs.

This pic was taken in Caacupé, where they have a Basilica honoring Our Lady as the Patroness of Paraguay. yes they have cars there.
Talk about low cost vehicle. this guy was selling watermellons, no loudspeakers, just park the wagon at the corner and your set, there´s plenty of grass for the oxxen to feed on , and they were groomed as well.

Bloom & sunset

The photographer´s eye, there´s always something to shoot I say.

I was standing outside an ugly church in Asunción after a rainfall, the sourroundings were dull and the weather was sticky, but low and behold look arround and you´ll find a humble plant blooming and wait a little and you´ll see a beautifull sunset.
